Lets Talk All About A Relationship

I am very open with my life on social media and sharing whats happening. My followers will all know my boyfriend Justin, I have written about our story a few times in previous posts. I always knew I didn’t want to date someone just for the sake of dating. My parents have an amazing relationship, I have grown up watching how strong they are together. The idea of being a team rather than individuals is very important. By no means am I a relationship expert but I have been lucky enough to watch my parents who have been happily married for 30 years. Here are my thoughts on how to keep a strong relationship.

Be able to laugh with each other and feel comfortable

It is so easy to forget to laugh and bring humour into the relationship. Justin and I are always laughing about things that happen, or stupid and funny things each other does. Being able to laugh at and with each other will only make your closer and stronger together.

Work as a TEAM not as individuals

Now it is important to be yourself in a relationship, you also have to work as a team. I always say Justin and I make a great team, and it is true. We are way more successful and have a lot more fun on adventures when we work together. I can easily branch off and try to do everything myself and control everything but then I have no fun and stress myself out. Justin reminds me that working together is way more fun!

Know what you both bring to the relationship

This is pretty simple, know what you excel at. In our relationship I am all about planning everything and having a schedule. Justin is more go with the flow and plans things last minute. Justin is always worried and thinking about safety and I am quick to jump onto an idea before thinking. So we both have opposite traits but together we balance each other.

Don’t Forget to communicate

This one has always been important to me. I think communication can make or break a relationship. I am super outgoing and Justin is more reserved and shy so when we started dating I made sure to talk with him and make sure we both gave our opinions and talked to each other. I think that has made us a very strong couple and have a strong bond. We know each other so well know we can tell how each other is feeling by body language and facial expressions.

Thank you to Brooklyn for the stunning photos! I love how many photos she has taken of Justin and I!

So again I am not an expert on relationships but I am pretty proud of my relationship with Justin and how we have grown together over the years. I always love reading about other relationships and see ways that I can try and grow our relationship stronger. Nothing is perfect and their are always new ways to grow but when you are open and willing to work on a relationship then you will see  a happy relationship.

This is so cute, and I agree with all these points (as someone who believes in the same philosophy of relationships as you), especially in working together as a team <3 I will add one more point though, and that is to be your own person with or without the relationship. I think some people believe that being in a relationship means sacrificing yourself to make it work, and that is so not true. You need to be yourself first, find your hobbies and your passion, before you delve into a serious relationship, romantic or not.

Communication is SO important in relationships. I basically force my boyfriend to talk about EVERYTHING because if we don’t I know it will cause problems later (and I know he’s grateful for it, haha). These photos of you and your boyfriend are so lovely. I love tulips!

  15. This is so cute and I love your points! I’ve been with my fiancé now for almost 8 years and engaged for almost 2, and working as a team and knowing what you bring to the table is so important. Obviously communication is as well, but I think that knowing how you balance one another out is so important to realize and really helps you grow as a couple!
