Please tell me I am not the only one who needed a new closet makeover to start off 2017! I get so discouraged looking for clothes in a messy closet, and having too many items doesn’t help! I am terrible with keeping my closet organized and really bad for never getting rid of clothes. I have a solution, Rubbermaid® Configurations® Custom Closet Kits are going to solve your closet organization problems!

To start off on a positive mind set this is the result of using the Rubbermaid® Configurations® Custom Closet Kits in my closet.

Now lets go back to an unpleasant time when my closet was jam packed and a mess! I cringe when I look back and see how many crammed clothes there are. Especially when I wasn’t wearing them all. I took it upon myself to do a closet clean out!

My top 10 tips and process for a closet clean out!

  1. Take everything out of your closet! I mean everything start with a clean canvas

  2. Put the items you wear at least once a week back in the closet.

  3. Look at what you have left and think about these things…

  4. Does it fit/what condition is it in?

  5. How long ago since I last wore it?

  6. Do I like it?

  7. Can I create an outfit with it and wear it tomorrow?

  8. If you haven’t worn it in 3 month I would try to create an outfit but if you don’t find yourself wearing it within a week, donate it!

  9. Anything you haven’t worn in over 3 months donate it, it isn’t an item you are looking for so give it to someone who would appreciate it.

  10. If you to want to keep something that has sentimental value, create a box that you can keep a few items like that in. The blue bins at the top of my closet would be perfect for that!

These are just a few tips my mom taught me and I finally put to use when I did my clean out, I filled 5 full garbage bags of clothes to donate!

This is what my closet looked like without my mounds of clothes in it. It has a lot of space, but not the space I needed.

My list of wants:

  • Long hanging space for dresses and pants

  • Shelves for folding sweaters

  • High shelves for storage

  • Medium height hanging for skirts

  • Regular handing for tops

Visit to your local Home Depot and head to Shelving to find your own Rubbermaid® Configurations® Custom Closet Kits. One step closer to your new closet.

Until Feb 15, the Rubbermaid® Configurations® Custom Closet Kits are going to be at a lower price! Be sure to take advantage of the amazing offer and get your closet ready for 2017!

The best thing about the Rubbermaid® Configurations® Custom Closet Kits, is that they are so EASY to use. Few tools required for set up, of course my awesome dad helped me and he only needed a screwdriver and a level (so my clothes wouldn’t be falling off the rods!). Set up the basic structure of the system and you can play and change up how you use it countless times.

I really loved playing with the Rubbermaid Closet Designer, this helped me look at different options for the space I had (6feet), and decide how I wanted to setup my kit. This designer will work with the size of your closet, and you can customize it to match your needs. How cool is that! This was the design I went with. I changed a few things around once I had it all in place.

It was really fun to put together, you have different rods and shelves to place and all can be changed and moved around very easily. It was like lego for adults 😉

Once I finished the set up I knew I was going to have to sort thought my clothing and finally giveaway lots! It was really fulfilling having 5 large garbage bags full of clothes, ready to donate. My clothes now fit beautifully in my new closet for a new year!

This was such an easy system to put together, no cutting to fit required. This kit would fit any reach in or walk in closet from 3-6feet. If you have a larger closet no worries, you can combine kits together seamlessly!

The hanging rods are customizable to fit whatever length you desire, and all the mounting hardware is included. I even had an extra shelf let with my closet!

How is your closet doing this year? Do you need a new closet? Check out the Rubbermaid® Configurations® Custom Closet Kits to create the new closet you need in the space you have! It is a #NewYearNewCloset and you need to treat yourself and your closet!
