Finding The Balance Of Health And Wellness

Before I get started I want to say I know not everyone likes yoga, believes in yoga, or wants to give yoga a chance. But I challenge you this, open your mind to this post, give it 2-3 minutes and think about it. Give your mind a chance to find balance and tranquility. Man do I sound like a yogi or what 😉

In all seriousness I love yoga, I was a dancer for 15 years as many of you already know and stretching and strengthening my muscles was something I did daily. I would use poses in yoga at the studio to help stretch muscles and release tension from my body after class.

I started taking hot yoga classes about 3 or 4 years ago, I loved them I could stretch further and work harder and there is something really rewarding about leaving a class dripping in sweat! I continued to do hot yoga everyday sometimes twice a day, I loved it. I was so connected with my mind and body, I knew my strength and what my body needed. It was so rewarding and peaceful. Especially in the cold winter nothing is better then being warm in a hot yoga class.

While I am waiting for a hot yoga studio to open near my school I still do yoga to take myself away from the stress of school. I even worked on meditation and relaxation last year. I use meditation when I am going to sleep and it is very rare I can’t fall asleep now.

I was really good at yoga because I could do everything from being a dancer. Now that I am not dancing and yoga isn’t happening daily I notice I am re-learning some poses and moves because I have lost that bendy feel and some of my strength. But my mindfulness and meditation stay the same.

If you are against yoga, haven’t tried it, love it or are confused by it. Look around try a free class and if that isn’t for you try mindful meditation. It allows you to have a few moments to think about you who you are and who you want to be. I love to visualize where I want my life to go and put it into the universe that I am going to make it happen.

    I liked yoga, I just wish there was a yoga studio close to me, most of them are far and the class schedules don’t line up with mine. I hope to try at home things and get better from there.

    ahh i love yoga! But definitely never do hot yoga! It’s super bad for people with anxiety and trauma actually and it’s really triggering for me!

    First off these pics are stunning!!! And I started doing yoga earlier this year and I’m hooked. I now know why people are so addicted. It makes you feel SO good and uplifted after!

    Good for you, girl!! You look so strong & flexible. My husband actually likes yoga and I have never given it much of a chance. But, with my stress levels… I think I should bite the bullet & just do it lol xx

    Funny enough, I was a dancer too but I just can’t get into yoga especially hot yoga for some reason. I do barre and hip hop dance workouts instead haha.

    As much as I want to love yoga, I have a hard time sitting still and I start getting self-conscious in every yoga class I’ve been to. I’m more of a pilates girl myself.
    That said, you are really killing it with the yoga poses! You are so flexible, I’m so envious!
