What Happens Next? First Chapter of University Done

As many of you know I am a full time University student, I am studying Hospitality Management. I love being able to study a topic I love and work towards my greatest dream of being a Wedding Planner. I really love the experience and work I have been doing at school, it really does make me happy and excited to continue.

How my program currently works is in a 2 + 2 model, this means we do 2 years to complete our Diploma, then we have the option to apply and continue to complete another 2 years to graduate with a Bachelor. So essentially we graduate twice over the 4 years. This can be confusing to some people, especially my family. There was a lot of celebrations about graduation this month, but for me it is more a celebration of continuing on to complete my bachelor.

One thing that is very cool about my program, we do a lot of practical work in the first 2 years. We run a fine dining room that anyone can come to and experience fine dining. We do a lot of fundraising so as a reward and celebration we are taken for a fine dining experience at the end of our first 2 years. These photos were taken that night.

It was an wonderful night with all of our classmates and instructors. We had amazing food at a beautiful restaurant and it was a great way to finish off the semester. It was a great time to all be together one last time. As some of us are continuing onto the Bachelor, some are graduating and going into the hospitality industry, and some are going to complete their bachelors at other universities.

One of my closest friends over the past to years is Cassandra, she has become my sister here, we both live on residence and she is my support system here on the Island. I am very proud of what she has achieved and she will be transferring to a different university about an hour and a half away. She is going to focus on International Hotel Operations and I can only see her going into amazing work opportunities.

So what does this mean for me? Well I have 2 more years of school then I am done. I am so excited about these next 2 years, I will get to start working on courses that will really put me ahead with my career goals. It will be a very busy 2 years, but very rewarding. I feel so lucky to be in a program with so many amazing people. We talk so often about how we can’t wait to call each other in 10 years and see where in the world we are. My program has students from all over the world! Some of my great friends are from Costa Rica, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and that is just to name a few places. My friend and classmates are incredibly supportive and while the blogging world, isn’t really something they are into, they are incredibly supportive, and always chat with me about it. I feel really lucky!

So thats what on the books for me, I know there will be many other things happening in that time but on the school agenda this is the plan! What was your fondest memory of University? Or if you are currently in school, what do you love most about being there?
