Let’s play a guessing game, can you tell me who this is? She is a Crazy Disney Fan, has purple hair, is slightly challenged with technology, her favourite colour is.. yup Purple, and she has amazing skills beind a camera. Any guesses? Well you might not know but today you are going to learn all about my …. Amazing Friend and Photographer Brooklyn!
Brooklyn is much more then a photographer, she is an amazing wife, mother to two boys and sweet little dog. She is the sweetest and kindest person I know and anytime spent with Brooklyn is always full of laughs and fun.
She is obsessed with anything related to Disney and she is a Starbucks junkie like me 😉 Brooklyn amazes me with her talent and she will forever be my life photographer! I mean it I can’t imagine having someone else capture my special moments in life. The work that Brooklyn produces for her clients is stunning. As her business grows she only gets better at what she does.
Brooklyn is also an amazing friend in my life, she is one of my favourite people. The more we talk even today the more we find out how crazy similar we are. It helps having someone who thinks and acts very similarly because we can talk about anything and get a second opinion about things.
If you follow my insta stories then you will notice a month ago I did a throwback of all the shoots I have done with Brooklyn. Today I am going to do the same but tell the story of how I first found Brooklyn and how we ended up working together! I think it is a fun little story and I know you will enjoy all the photos!
This goes way back, I don’t even think Brooklyn knows about this one but when I was 15 I loved photos, I thought doing a dance shoot would be so cool. I had googled different photographers in my city and came across Brooklyn. I loved her photos, I even emailed her asking if this was something she would do. She responded but I got so busy with my life I never made it happen. Who knew that I would end up creating one of the most amazing friendships later on!
My first shoot was actually a model call for Brooklyn, after planning another shoot with her she saw I was a dancer and wanted to do something en pointe. After months of waiting for the dress to arrive we finally got to shoot. I won’t lie I was crazy nervous. I am very critical of myself and I was most critical about myself dancing. Ballet is so specific and I was always critiquing my body to be perfect. Being en point is one thing, but then doing it on uneven ground outside in very cold weather. I think Brooklyn could tell I was super nervous but the photos still look beautiful. Little did she know that the real Sydney was a totally different person she had yet to meet.
In Grade 12 I was in the Musical Footloose, I was Ariel 🙂 I also choreographed the show. As it was my final musical I wanted to do a professional cast photoshoot. I still had Brooklyn’s photos in my mind from the 2 years previous when I had first found her. I emailed her and she agreed to take on the huge task of photographing about 40 high school students. I went into planning mode and had everything planned to the second with detailed shot lists and making sure everyone knew where they had to be to make this happen. Brooklyn was kind of shocked with this side of me since she had only know the nervous Sydney in a dance shoot. I loved this shoot and I love having these images to look back on.
A few weeks after Footloose Brooklyn texted me wanting to do a Senior shoot with me. Of course I will never say no to a shoot with Brooklyn, I was really excited and we had lots of fun with this shoot, the photos were so beautiful I loved having these moments captured.
After Footloose I told Justin Brooklyn had to do our prom photos, he agreed and we booked her! I was so excited and I adore these photos. I was really against taking them in my backyard at first but man I am so glad we did I love them so much.
Then things get sad. I went off to University and it was 1 year and 3 months before I got to shoot with Brooklyn again. I gave her the task of taking on the Instagram photo shoot. I wanted to do fun lifestyle and flatlay for Instagram before I went back for my second year of University. Brooklyn laughed and said well we will figure it out as we go. Neither of us had really attempted this style of photos and it ended with many laughs and some awkward positions to get the shot. We also could not stop talking and catching up that this shoot ended up lasting 3 hours instead of the 1 hour we had planned! It was so worth it and it made me realize how much I love having Brooklyn in my life and knew I could never let a break that long happen again!
I immediately got planning a shoot when I was home for thanksgiving at the pumpkin patch! This was so fun and Brooklyn is so fun to shoot with I am up for anything with her! This was an afternoon filled with laughing and hopping fences to find the best pumpkins 😉
The next big shoot Brooklyn and I have planned is my Birthday! I will be turning 20 and I am so excited! We have the best of everything coming together for this and I am beyond excited for the shoot day to be here, only a few more weeks! We also have a few other big plans that I will keep secret for now but trust me, you won’t want to miss out on these photos!
I don’t think I have words as to how much Brooklyn has impacted my life. I keep saying she is my life photographer and she will be. I can only imagine how out lives will go with my big life plans because of course they include her! I see lots of travelling together and growing businesses for both of us in our future, I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year brings us Brooklyn!
