Wow I can’t believe there are only 2 days left of 2017, the month of December has proven to be nothing but crazy schedules and exhausting days. But after the past 2 weeks of full relaxation and doing nothing if I wanted, I feel an urge to get back into a schedule and start off the new year strong! In the past few days we have been iced in, with ice rain, and cold temperatures everything has frozen over, and trees are falling left, right, and centre. Power lines are down and my house lost power for 16 hours! It was crazy and I honestly just want some warmer weather to help the trees survive! But while I wrap myself up in blanket with a cup of tea by the fire lets take a look back at 2017!
To start off 2017 Justin and I got to head out to a pond near our house and go pond skating, it is seriously my favourite thing to do. Skating on a frozen pond is so amazing and I am really keeping my fingers crossed that the ponds freeze here again soon!
It was a deep freeze here in January and a local waterfall that is again very close to home froze and it was such a beautiful thing to see. Justin and I went out and took our drone out there, it was a bit nerve wracking for us as there are lots of trees and ice we really didn’t want to loose our drone! But we ended up getting some beautiful footage and it was actually shared by our local new papers so that was pretty exciting! You can check out that blog post here!
I always have a special place in my heart for february because it is my anniversary month with Justin! We started dating on February 14th 2013! We celebrated 4 years together and we shared on of our favourite date nights! It was so fun taking these photos! Check out that post here!
March was a busy working month and I shared a lot of fashion posts! But I also started a series on my blog sharing the outtakes or bloopers from my shoots. Life is never perfect and I wanted to share the not so perfect side since the blogging world can easily look fake and overdone. I actually loved sharing these photos because they made me laugh and I hope they gave some of my readers a laugh too! Check out the post here!
Ahh one of my favourite months! My Birthday!!! April is always such a busy time, its the end of school, exams, my birthday, and moving time! This April was no exception looking back I wonder if I ever slept or ate because so much happened!
First was my Birthday, this year I got to have the greatest celebration, I turned 20!! woohoo and I planned the most glam photoshoot to celebrate, seriously I was treated like a princess working with all my favourite people! I started off with Jasmine Hoffman doing my makeup and on of her stylists doing my hair (blog post), then went to visit Elsa Corsi of Jeweliette Jewelry (blog post) and I was wearing a beautiful pair of her earring that I received! Then off to Prep Beauty (blog post) to use their amazing decor for photos, and ended the day at Butter Bakery (blog post) to enjoy some delicious food and the cutest photo location, the whole day was spend with my incredible friend and photographer Brooklyn. It was pure perfection! Another post about it here!
Then it was the end of semester and I completed my second year of University! I finished my diploma and I was accepted to continue onto my degree! It was so exciting and great to celebrate with my school family! Check out the post here!
And just like that the month was over and I was moved back home getting ready to take on the summer break!
May was another exciting month! I was home from school, it was Mothers Day and Justin and I went on a little vacation!
First was Mother’s Day, here in the Fraser Valley there is a beautiful Tulip festival in Abbotsford and I took my Mom so we could do a mother daughter photoshoot! It was stunning! Check that post out here!
Then Justin and I went to California on vacation! It was so much fun and our first vacation together! We split our trip into 2 parts, Hollywood and Venice Beach. We had so much fun staying at the Hollywood Hotel (blog post) and spending a day at my favourite place Universal Studios (blog post)! We also got to go to a place I have dreamt about the Walt Disney Concert Hall (blog post) and wow it was just amazing! We spent one morning at Sky Space LA (blog post) and it was unlike anything I have experienced! Then we rented an apartment in Venice beach (blog post)and literally spent our days on the beach it was some well needed sunshine time! I also wrote a post about some of my favourite murals in Venice (blog post).
June, July and August
The summer months are always busy because I go to my full time job, but I still had some amazing moments on the blog !
It was Canada’s 150th birthday so we had an amazing time celebrating on July 1st!
I also had some of my favourite photos taken in the summer!
This summer was a big step for me speaking out towards body positivity and acceptance. I have always been very critical of myself and I stepped out of my comfort zone and shared how I am re-learning to love myself! I am so proud of how I have shaped my life and love the happiness I see in my photos because of it! As a result I also started sharing some of my yoga poses and it is really fun to share something a little different!
I also shared a lot of behind the scenes vlogs this summer and I hope my readers enjoyed seeing how my shoots happen!
It was back to school and I started my new position as a Resident Advisor! It was such a busy time but I got to post some amazing content and shoot some amazing photos!
I am in love with the show Riverdale and it is filmed here in BC and the town I live in was actually used for filming the first season and it inspired the town. I decided to do a blog post showing all the locations and sharing My Riverdale! Check out that post here!
I also worked with a fellow creator in Nanaimo and planned a super last minute sunrise photo session, it was so fun and really made me fall in love with Nanaimo!
Of course September brings beautiful photos, here were some of my favs!
I shared some halloween costumes, had beautiful photos at the apple orchard and pumpkin patch. It was a busy month but a good one!
November and December
Honestly November was so busy with school and work I didn’t have a lot of exciting stuff happen, but Justin and I did manage to get away for a weekend to Whistler and had the great time zip lining and relaxing! December was ready to overload with fun activities!
I planned a big photoshoot at Grouse Mountain in December and it was amazing! I worked with my favourite people and we totally got the most amazing images! Some will have the posts published in January! But you can have a peak at photos now!
Now we are here, 2017 has been one amazing year, so many amazing things happened and the growth of this blog was amazing, I have a lot of big plans for 2018 and I can’t wait to share and bring you along.
A big thing I focused on in 2017 was exclusively using my amazing friend and photographer Brooklyn, I believe she is so talented and her business is growing and I want to support her in every way. I chose to work with her because I love her energy, we have an amazing relationship and work very well together. Thats all beside the point that she takes incredible photos! I love how we have helped each other grow and I can only see that enhancing in 2018 and I can’t wait to work on more amazing projects with her!
I hope you all take time to look back at the good or the bad and reflect on 2017, make notes on what you want to change and do whatever it takes to make that happen! 2018 is here and ready for us to take charge!
Have an amazing new year and see you all in 2018!
