I am really lucky to live in such a beautiful country and an amazing province. I am a super proud Canadian and I am doing everything to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday all year long! The big birthday is tomorrow and I will be working at my event, but I can’t wait for fireworks! If I wasn’t working my family and I normally have a fun day at home in the pool, having a backyard picnic and seeing what fun things are happening around town. I celebrated a bit early this year with Ford Canada and I wanted to share my fun ideas with you while I was trying out the Ford Flex!
I love exploring the beautiful places in British Columbia, especially when they are close to home! One of my favourite spots is this river close to my house, I grew up going with my parents and dog all the time! It was so much fun to take the Ford Flex down here and have a picnic! A great afternoon to visit a spot I hadn’t been to recently but have so many memories at.
The beach there is all rocky so I prefer to have a tailgate picnic in the back of the Ford Flex, the perfect way is to put the third row of seats into stow mode and then fold down flat to make the most space back area. Can you tell I am slightly obsessed with all festive Canada 150 gear! I have plates, blankets, lanterns, towels, umbrellas, cups, tattoos, hats, t-shirts, I have it all and I am proud of it. I love that the design and colours are more classic and heritage rather than cheesy, tacky themed stuff. I am pretty impressed with the branding to celebrate 150.
It wouldn’t be my kind of picnic without Tim Hortons, seriously any day with Tims is a good day! So I picked up all my favourites to enjoy!
The Ford Flex Limited is packed with everything you could need, the sleek interior design and extremely comfortable seats made me excited to drive anywhere! I loved the big display with built in navigation and back up camera. Seriously I love having a backup camera. At first I was hesitant about loving the look, I don’t like boxy vehicles and I was really unsure about the flex. But once I started driving and used the space. I didn’t care about it being boxy, the remote start made me the happiest girl ever. The car would detect the temperature outside and blast the air condition if I used the remote start. It would lower the fans once I opened the door to get in and the car was nice and cool waiting for me. That was just a slice of heaven leaving work everyday.
The flex is a great 7 seater with so many options on storage and space. I loved the sun roofs at each row of seating, it really helps the people sitting in the second and third rows feel like they have lots of light and space. This flex also had the park assist and auto park. I have never tried it before. We played around with it on my street and it was seriously cool! It really amazes me how technology is growing.
It is the perfect vehicle to have for anything! I know Justin is already hooked and wants to buy one for himself! My uncle owns a flex and they travel all over in it and bring along their kids and grandkids. It is the perfect size to fit everyone, and is such a smooth ride, car sickness is a thing of the past! My Aunt is petite and she doesn’t like large vehicles because she can’t see. The flex surprised her, she was able to see easily and she loves driving it around! It was awesome to chat with them about the flex and see how it has been amazing in their life!
Side note, how cute is my Canada 150 shirt!! I have so many Canada 150 themed shirts, everyday this week I have been wearing a different one! I mean come on what is more Canadian than a jelly filled Tim Bit… Nothing!!! I have memories of being a little girl and nothing was better than seeing the little 10 pack box of Tim Bits when you got in the car! I might just have to get some on my way to work tomorrow 🙂
The second part of the adventure was heading out to my favourite date night with Justin!! The Drive In ! This drive in is the only one in our area so it is super special to me! I am always happy at the drive in. We decided to take the flex and use the stow away seat mode to make the back our viewing lounge. It was perfect! Lots of blankets and pillows and we were all set! It was so awesome, the drive in now is very different from when my mom went, the quality and sound have greatly improved and there is nothing like wearing your pjs, with your pillow and blankets in the back of the car watching a movie on a summer night! That is my kind of paradise.
I loved my Ford Flex adventures and I can’t wait to spend the year exploring more of Canada and celebrating my country! I know all my American readers will be celebrating their country in only a few days, these ideas would be perfect for you too!
Have a fabulous weekend!!
