My story starts in a small town, a town where you know most of the people and you pass the same places everyday. A great place, a beautiful place, the place I grew up. The name of my town isn’t Riverdale but watching the opening scene sure reminded me of my small town, and this is My Riverdale.
Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with Riverdale, so much I wish I was on the show! I got really interested when I realized a lot of the filming locations or inspiration for sets were from places I grew up, a few right in my little town. I drive past some of these places daily and it was pretty cool to see these spots made up into a different town that reminds me of my own.
I started planning this post in January 2017, I decided I wanted to go to as many filming locations as I could and put them into a post showing my Riverdale. Now I wasn’t able to get to every location but I got to the really big ones I will share more later. For now enjoy my love of Riverdale.
First we start off in my small town Mission, BC I love this town and I love living there. It has history and beautiful historic places. Along with forests, lakes and trails. It is my perfect paradise to live. But the best part is we have some locations that get used very frequently in films bringing some big stars to out little Mission. See below the Post office this is an amazing building, in Riverdale it is the sheriff’s office. I walked passed the post office everyday for 16 years as my dance studio was across the street.
The Fraser River runs along Mission and is a popular spot with the train bridge that used to be the only bridge for cars, trains and people to cross the river. This Iconic spot in Mission is used as the site of Andrew’s Construction Company. The view behind me is a spot seen in the show. You also see the lighthouse cafe in the show making it a noticeable spot for people to find this location.
Now for probably one of the most popular spots on the show, Pop’s Diner. This is really cool because in the show Pop’s is the place everyone goes for milkshakes and the place to go at all hours of the night or day. Well Rockos the diner in real life is exactly the same. It would be rare to meet anyone in Mission who hasn’t gone to Rockos for milkshakes at some crazy hour.
Now we move out of Mission and into Fort Langley, I spent lots of time here growing up it is such a beautiful place that is used in countless movies, especially hallmark Christmas movies. There is always something being filmed here.
First up the Fort Langley Community Hall or better known as the Mayors office in Riverdale. This building is in many other movies and TV shows, I bet you have seen this place before!
The train station, shown in the first episode this is such a cute spot! I love going here for photos and enjoying the historic culture of Fort Langley.
Now onto a darker side of the town, the graveyard. This is in the first episode when they show places that make up Riverdale. Of course I went with a Cheryl style for this location wearing white as she did to her Brother’s Funeral.
Keeping with the theme of the Blossom’s we go to our next location, Alouette Lake. This was where they filmed the sweet water river scenes after the pilot. The pilot was filmed at Alice Lake in Squamish and that was a bit farther than I waned to drive for this! Regardless I go all out when I say I will do something and you’ll see below I keep to my word. Yep I rented a kayak to use, I wore a long while dress and sat down in the freezing water with makeup running down my face. I had my amazing friend bring out her families red mustang to use for photos! Seriously friend of the year goes to her!
Now we head into the Vancouver area, lots of amazing locations here! First lets show off Riverdale Highschool, man this school is so beautiful I can only imagine how stunning it would be to go there! The inside of the high school on the show was inspired and first filmed at a different high school in Vancouver!
Veronica’s house, I was really excited to see this one because it has been used as a beautiful event hall until recently they are transforming it into a tea hall! Still it is a beautiful location and totally screams Veronica. This is one of my favourite black dress that also has a very Veronica feel.
Now onto Archie’s House! This house is on the cutest street that I quickly fell in love with! And don’t worry I stayed on the sidewalk this is a private home and I wanted to respect their property!
Now to the girl next door who is actually like 30 minutes away Betty! This house was beyond words, I was amazed and I seriously want to live in this house. Everything about it was perfection!
Now thats all the locations I got photographed, there are a few more spots that I go to or pass often but just didn’t get a chance to get that perfect photo. The twilight drive in if you read my post HERE then you saw I love the drive in and go as often as I can. The register newspaper shop is in Fort Langley and I didn’t get a photo because there were lots of people and cars in the area. The Blossom Mansion Thornhill, this is a private home that is well gated I didn’t bother going there because I am sure they get enough people looking through the gates.
Thank you Brooklyn for these incredible photos and agreeing to take on this massive project with me, Justin thank you for helping me with outfit changes and supporting my ideas. Thanks Mom and Dad for helping to inspire me to create this post! It has been a long time coming.
With that I end this massive post but I welcome you to My Riverdale. I love this show and thank everyone who works on this show for creating something incredible. I am so proud that this is filmed here in BC it is really cool to feel so connected to a TV show. Even my parents enjoy the show and think it is so cool that we live in parts of Riverdale 😉 Season 2 airs October 11 and I know I have a countdown going! Do you?
