Tackle Hunger In Vancouver With Purolator

On July 14th in Vancouver at the BC Lions Football game, Purolator hosted their 16th season of battling Hunger across Canada. I was so excited to see this in action and be apart of such an amazing cause.

Purolator teamed up with the BC Lions, Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and Surrey Food Bank to raise awareness and encourage fans to bring non perishable items to the game. There was tons of fun and excitement happening in Terry Fox Plaza when we arrived.

In addition to all the pre game excitement, Purolator had amazing volunteers at the gates with donation bins. Another very exciting event was having the Grey Cup there and you could get a photo with it! I will say that was very cool! Lots of pre game excitement to be had!

I really enjoyed supporting such an amazing cause and food banks who are helping so many people.

  • The Greater Vancouver Food Bank provides assistance to over 27,000 people weekly through six food hubs and seven distribution centers, and at over 80 community partner agencies located in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and the North Shore.
  • The Surrey Food Bank helps feed 14,000 people per month, of which 41 per cent are children, in the communities of Surrey and North Delta.

It really does tear at my heart that so many families and children don’t get enough food. Food insecurity is an important issue that affects Canadians across the country. According to Food Bank Canada‚Äôs most recent HungerCount report, more than 850,000 Canadians visit food banks every month, and sadly, more than one-third of them are children.

I always feel that we can bring some canned soups, sauces, pastas and anything else in your pantry that is non parishable. I can bet you won’t even notice that item gone but to a child or parent that could mean their family is going to eat a meal. To me that is an easy step I can always take to help others.

Now if you can’t attend a game no worries you can donate online here and still make a difference!

I want to thank Purolator for including me on this amazing event and to the BC Lions, for a great game and an awesome win!!
